Gear Review

For Season 1, Spencer tested the Scout and the Thor bottoms. Here’s his review of the two products on his adventures:

“First, I went on a nice spring hike up Middle Cottonwood Creek on the west side of the Bridger Mountains. These are just outside of Bozeman, MT. My scout has been an awesome layer for spring hikes like this! It does a great job of wicking away moisture during steep ascents but keeps me warm in the alpine breeze. Here in the mountains of SW Montana, the weather can change in an instant. My Woolpro layers have been providing me plenty of comfort and peace of mind in all conditions.

Next, I wore both my Scout and my Thor leggings for a beautiful closing-weekend of skiing at Big Sky Resort in Montana in mid-April. From a frigid morning start, to sweaty climbs to some hike-to terrain, to ripping down groomers, to drinking beer on the hill watching the pond skim, both layers kept me warm, dry, and comfortable all day long. Even the drive home through Gallatin Canyon was comfortable, a nice contrast from my normal sweaty synthetic leggings.

Finally, I really put both my leggings and Scout through the wringer over the course of a week in early March. I spent it camping and mountain biking in Moab, Utah. Both layers were essential for keeping me warm on those cool desert mornings and evenings. Because they helped with warmth, I could cook dinner, relax around a fire, and drink coffee while poring over trail maps in the predawn light.

These layers also helped me stay toasty warm in my sleeping bag even after my sleeping pad left me flat on the cold desert sand all week. Also, after a week of semi-constant wear and zero showers, my Woolpro gear still smelled as good as new. That is really saying something on day 6 of being active in the hot desert sun!

Besides just keeping my dirtbag odors [Nicole comment: LOL] at bay that week, the gear held up really well. I was climbing around on abrasive sandstone cliffs and relaxing in the sand all week and it didn’t cause a bit of damage. In addition, the scout proved itself to be a worthy addition to my pack on day hikes and bike rides. It was perfect for early morning starts- a quick bike ride up Hurrah Pass or hike up to Corona Arch. Then, I stuffed into my pack with ease as the sun came out.”

Between Moab, Middle Cottonwood, and skiing at Big Sky, Spencer was comfortable in quite a spectrum of temperatures/conditions with WoolPRO! Check the baselayers out at https://www.woolpro.cc
